Costcutter Scores with World Cup Promotions Campaign

England were not the only team to make a promising start in this year’s World Cup, according to Costcutter Supermarkets Group.

CSG’s ‘Bringing Summer Home’ campaign is already scoring high with retailers across the UK, says the group, with retailers selecting their own ‘star players’ from the extensive promotional offers to suit their individual stores and shopper needs.

Ricky Sharma, owner of Costcutter Halifax, said: “There has been a great reaction from our shoppers and our World Cup-related products and meal deals have gone down a treat so far - we’ve already seen an uplift in footfall on the back of it.

“The summer offers and POS material provided by Costcutter has allowed us to get creative with our displays, and tailor promotions to meet our specific shoppers’ needs. We’ve taken the competition one step further by providing our shoppers with different beer offers for each game, based on the countries playing that day – for example Estrella and Super Bock for Spain v Portugal – and the feedback from customers has been really positive.”

Costcutter’s World Cup campaign provides customers with even more opportunities to celebrate during the tournament, with the group giving shoppers the chance to win a luxury holiday worth up to £10K. The ‘Golden Balls’ competition, which sees golden footballs go on tour across the country for a six-week period in and around the World Cup and hidden for shoppers to find, is already proving to be a huge success.

The campaign is further supported by #Matchfit, a digital campaign which will feature on the CSG social media channels and individual retailer Facebook pages. Recipes from a range of nations are being featured on social media, driving shoppers to the website where full details and recipes can be found.

The ranges on offer are perfect for gathering friends together, including beers and cider, crisps and snacks, burgers and grills and chilled prepared salads. Deals include better than half price offers on Pepsi Max 6pk, 7up and Magnum Classic, Corona Extra packs for only £10, plus great wine promotions for only £4.99.

The campaign also includes a £5.00 frozen meal deal, perfect for a football themed night in. The offer features a Goodfellas Takeaway pizza, garlic baguette and Wall’s Magnum Classic tub of ice cream, all for just £5, supported by extensive POS options.
