Independent, the own brand from Costcutter Supermarkets Group, has relaunched its take home ice cream range to offer improved flavour, packaging size, design and price, ahead of the key summer trading season.
The new Independent ice cream range boasts five different variants, including choc ices and one litre and 900ml tubs, in flavours including Vanilla, Neapolitan, Chocolate and Strawberry, all supplied by leading ice cream manufacturer, R & R Ice Cream. The new range, which will be rolled out in stores from this month, offers retailers an improved entry price point, starting at £1 for a one litre tub, greater margins for retailers and a new packaging design that highlights the great quality of the product.
Jodene Rogers, Head of Marketing for Independent, said: “We’ve relaunched our improved ice cream range now to help retailers capitalise on sales over key summer months, however ice cream is now a popular purchase for our customers throughout the whole year.
“Latest research shows almost 40 percent of take home ice cream and 30 percent of handheld ice creams sales are over the winter months. Own brand is a key driver of growth in the ice cream sector, which is why we’ve worked hard to produce a range that will appeal to customers and help our retailers drive sales and profits.”
Independent offers a range of quality, affordable products across all categories including fresh meats and vegetables through to household items and confectionery. In just two years since launch, the brand has already received industry acclaim with its Strawberry Bonbons, Shortbread Biscuit Fingers and Thai Sweet Chilli Crisps winning top awards.
